What We Do

About US

Reading Athletic Club was established in 1881 and over the years we have had many County, National, International, Commonwealth and Olympic Champions who have been or are still members of the Club and we are very proud of our long and successful history. In our 125th year a History of the Club was written by Brian Bacon and just some of the names mentioned in that history are Harry Whittle, E.H. Oliver, W.E.N. Breach, Ann Packer, Beverley Callender, Kathy Cook, and Gerry Stevens to mention just a few. Some of these still hold Club records, one of which the Senior Men's Long Jump record was set as long ago as 1937. Our current members are continuing our fine tradition of producing champion athletes.

READING ATHLETIC CLUB competes in a number of different leagues which ensures that we compete with Clubs from all over the Country and thus enjoy a good level of competition for all our teams which is as good if not better than most other Clubs in Berkshire. The leagues we compete in are:

  • Southern Athletic League

  • Youth Development League -Upper and Lower Age Groups

  • Alder Valley League

  • Southern Vets League Western Division

  • Hampshire Cross Country League

  • Berkshire Sports Hall League
